4 Core Concepts

MOTIVATION

I use the symbol 2PoMS to represent the fundamental motivation we all have to pursue and preserve maximal satisfaction. It's the drive that's always on and pushes us all the time.

PERSPECTIVE

The drive itself operates through personal perspective, which is that unique mental model of reality that each of us has constructed in our own minds. Perspective is dynamic. It changes over time and through experience. It is made up of many factors and influences, which are not always consistent in our consciousness as we observe, process, conclude, and navigate our way towards the single-minded goal of experiencing maximal satisfaction. In essence, we each have our own perspectives, making for a multiplicity of perspectives processing and guiding lives in a single, shared reality.

REALITY

Defining reality is a complex subject that has challenged philosophers, scientists, and thinkers for centuries. In the context of Perspective4-life, however, reality is simply reference to what exists and the collective and interconnected way in which it does. Although Perspective4-life recognizes and acknowledges both the seen and unseen reality, it focuses primarily on the seen parts, the concrete components of our daily existence that comprise the physical universe, governed by natural law, and that can be witnessed or experienced through the senses.

LEARNING and GROWTH

The trustworthiness of the perspective is integral to success in pursuing and maintaining maximal satisfaction. Learning is the process of growing and restructuring perspective. There is, however, a caution in this. Learning needs to be reliable. In other words, learning needs to be aimed at developing a perspective as closely aligned with reality as possible. This "perspective alignment" is what is needed for accurate assessment of ourselves, others, and the situations we find ourselves in. It is this kind of dependable examination that forms the foundation for better decisions, which generally lead to better outcomes, which in turn result in greater stability, success, and satisfaction in our lives.
